Another Update on My Battle With Weight

It has been a month since my last update on my battle with weight, and unfortunately the past month has not been good. It would be easy to not write anything, but I promised to write updates, and this is as much for myself, to keep accountable to anyone who does read this.

Photo of a hand reaching up out of a body of water for a lifeline.Between the weather and my back, I haven’t done any consistent walking, and I haven’t used the bike in my office more than a few times. My eating has definitely not been healthy, although I have tried to limit to one serving. However, that was not the case over the past week since Thanksgiving.

And I have also noticed as my eating habits and resolve have slipped, so has the amount of time I spend reading the Bible and talking to God. I’m still consistent with that every day, but the quality and quantity of time have taken a hit.

With the whole Christmas holiday season upon us, and events to attend and places to travel, I am going to be tempted to throw in the towel and just tell myself I will start over again after the new year has arrived. But that is NOT what I want to do. Maybe, just maybe, writing this down and sharing it will remind me of my commitment. And it is just not a commitment to myself, but a commitment to God, to surrender ALL of myself to Holy Spirit.

That is my prayer, and I thank those of you who have assured me that you are praying with me, as well.

Grace and peace, y’all…

Ah. I have been there friend. Don’t give up. Get up, brush yourself off, and begin again. Make one small change. You dont have to do drastic changes.

So, Paul, baby steps are very important! You have so many praying and supporting you, that we all rejoice in even the small changes in lifestyle. Don’t be so hard on yourself, but rejoice that you are resolved to make changes. The holidays are hard for a lot of folks. Instead of judging yourself, spend more time with God and let him lift you and your moods.
Praying for you my friend 🙏!

Thanks, Vicki. Those baby steps are hard sometimes, especially when I look at the big picture (and it is REALLY BIG)…

Don’t throw in the towel over the holidays, Paul. Rather, take on the holidays as a special challenge – make it the historic “battle of the bulge.” Your troops are surrounded by fattening food, but you are going to hold the line and fight back! I’m going to join you in the battle. Over 2017-18, I lost about 25 lbs. and, more importantly, 8″ off my waist, through diet and exercise. Since moving to Navarre FL late in 2018, my focus has been on planting a church. I quit exercising, and increased my food intake. My former weight and waist have returned and I have only 2 pairs of pants I can fit in. I refuse to buy more. Let’s do this!

Thanks, Michael! Let’s win this battle!

Every time I eat the right thing, which may be one out of five or six, it’s still one! Count your successes as small as they may seem, they are still success. Blessings.
