Christmas Thoughts

I don’t often share my musings or notes from my morning quiet times, but as I have been working through an Advent devotional this month, I felt compelled to share some of my thoughts. Perhaps they are merely my random ramblings, exposing the often strange way my mind works. But my hope and prayer is…

Another Update on My Battle With Weight

It has been a month since my last update on my battle with weight, and unfortunately the past month has not been good. It would be easy to not write anything, but I promised to write updates, and this is as much for myself, to keep accountable to anyone who does read this. Between the…

The Story of My Come To Jesus Night

By late 1982, my life was pretty messed up. I had lost the good-paying job I had had since I was 16. I was working flea markets, selling everything I had that was worth anything, and whatever money I did make, I was spending on low-quality weed, cheap beer (think plain white generic can, “Beer”),…

An Overdue Update On My Weight Loss Journey

I know it has been almost a month since my last post, which was about my life-long weight problem. I apologize for not writing anything since. I intend to write at least one post a week, and hopefully two per week. I’d like to do one post a week that will include an update on…

The Story of my Struggle with Weight and Weight Loss

I have a serious weight problem. I have struggled with it for most of my life, but I’ve usually thought something like, “I’ll deal with it, eventually.” Or, “That’s just the way God made me, so I’m good with that.” But I have to admit it – I am morbidly obese. If I don’t do…

How That One Night Changed the 70s For Me

I wrote two weeks ago about The Day That Changed Everything. That was the day my Dad was killed in a truck accident. In that post, I wrote about the events of that evening and the horrible day after my 13th birthday. I know I have more stories to tell about that day and its…

On taking a Facebook break and fighting phone addiction

Last Sunday (Sept. 15) I started what I am calling a “phone detox” and at least a two-week break from Facebook. I knew I was spending way too much time checking “what’s new” on Facebook, seeing what friends were doing, sharing funny (or not-so-funny) memes, and generally wasting time. And 90% of the time I…

God’s Computer

Let me tell you the story of God’s Computer. In the summer of 2013 the laptop that I owned pretty much bit the dust. Since I really need a laptop when I travel and when I visit clients, I needed to get a replacement. But, my financial situation was in its usual pitiful condition. I…

The Day That Changed Everything

I wrote the original version of this post on an old blog I had on my business site on August 18, 2015. I am updating it here because I’m moving all of my personal posts here and this is an extremely major part of the Life and Times of Paul Timmy and it needed to…

On Being Interviewed on the Hallway Chats Podcast

I recently had the honor of being interviewed for the Hallways Chats podcast. It was fun talking with Tara and Liam, but I didn’t feel especially good about it afterward. I felt that I kind of stumbled around a bit and I was pretty sure I had said a couple of things wrong. Most importantly to me, I felt like there were a couple of times that I basically apologized for being a Christian and a follower of Jesus.
