Hilarious, Puzzling, Sad, Exhilarating, Heartbreaking - And All True

Howdy, and Welcome!

Y'all come on in and sit a spell. I've got stories to tell.

This is a photo of me, Paul Timmy.

This is me, Paul Timmy.

Hi! I'm Paul Timmy, aka Paul T Oyler, aka Thadeus. (Look for the explanation of the Thadeus moniker in a post soon.) Anyone who has known me well for any length of time will confirm that I can be a bit of a loner. At a party, I'd much rather find a quiet corner, listen to music and observe life around me. I am much more comfortable in my own little world. That is kind of what I am going to do with this blog (actually it is going to be more of a journal), EXCEPT, I am leaving the door open so you can join me, or at least peek in and see what is going on inside my head. (Warning - I'm sometimes scared of what is going on inside there!)

If you are still with me, come on along to read the whole scoop about me, the title of this journal, and the purpose of it.

On Being Interviewed on the Hallway Chats Podcast

I recently had the honor of being interviewed for the Hallways Chats podcast. It was fun talking with Tara and Liam, but I didn’t feel especially good about it afterward. I felt that I kind of stumbled around a bit and I was pretty sure I had said a couple of things wrong. Most importantly to me, I felt like there were a couple of times that I basically apologized for being a Christian and a follower of Jesus.

Recap of My Weekend at WordCamp Kent 2019

I build and manage websites for small businesses, churches, ministries, a race car team, an author, and a college professor. The software that I use is called WordPress. I’ve been using WordPress since it was first released in 2003 and it has grown to the point that now, roughly 1/3 of all websites on the…

Review of Cleaning the Gold: A Jack Reacher and Will Trent Short Story

This was a lame mash-up of Jack Reacher, whom I am well acquainted with, and Will Trent, of whom I had never heard. If I was new to both characters, this short story would certainly not induce me to want to read either of their adventures. I’m sure this was a corporate idea to try…

Best Laid Plans

A funny thing about plans, they never seem to work the way they were supposed to. How often have you thought, “Today I am going to get THIS JOB accomplished.” Then a child gets sick, the phone rings, your spouse yells from the bathroom that you forgot to buy toilet paper, so off you go…
